Breaking Barriers: Teachers Learning from Teachers

To improve the quality of teaching, educators need ways to learn together that challenge their current practice with a focus on student learning.  Peer Learning Walks break traditional barriers by connecting colleagues through professional conversations that cross levels and content areas, opening doors to new ways of thinking about teaching and learning. Using the protocol presented in Candi McKay’s book You Don’t Have to Be Bad to Get Better, participants will engage in reflective conversations following a brief classroom visit. Authentic practice to implement this protocol follows each training session. This is a great learning opportunity for teams of teachers, mentors and instructional coaches.

Once you engage in this practice, you will immediately begin to examine your own craft and deeply appreciate the work of others. That is the greatest hidden gift.
